Janet Yoo is best known for her emotionally raw colorful portraits of women and nature.

Born in the San Fernando Valley, Janet Yoo is a Korean American who currently lives and works still in the San Fernando Valley.  Janet is an Art Teacher and mother of two children which influences her artistic style.  She graduated from the University of Irvine with a major in Studio Art and minor in Digital Arts and Education.  

Growing up Janet took private art classes for 7 years learning traditional artistic methods.  Later her education at UCI opened her eyes up to contemporary and abstract art.  She incorporates realistic elements with conceptual meaning behind each piece.  She utilizes bold lively colors, inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, to capture the viewer’s attention.  She uses various painting mediums such as oil paint, acrylic, and watercolors.

Janet has been exhibiting her artworks through the California Artist League for the past  15 years.  In addition her artwork was shown in a group show at the Korean Cultural Center under the Cultural Identity Exhibition.  Other art gallery exhibitions have been at La Galeria Gitana, Thousand Oaks Library, Silvana Gallery, and McGroarty Art Center.
